Punjab CM Unveils Land Allocation for Asaan Karobar Loan Beneficiaries
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has unveiled a strategic initiative to allocate land within industrial zones to beneficiaries of the Asaan Karobar loan scheme. This move aims to expedite the scheme’s rollout and broaden its reach to more entrepreneurs. During a recent cheque and card distribution event, she urged the Bank of Punjab to maximize loan disbursements and emphasized the importance of policies that enable immediate business startups.

Facilitating Entrepreneurial Ventures
The Chief Minister reassured that the issuance of no-objection certificates (NOCs) and licenses would persist to support entrepreneurs. She encouraged recipients to utilize the loans to launch their businesses promptly. In anticipation of the holy month of Ramadan, the government plans to introduce a free plot scheme, aiming to provide Rs10,000 to 3.3 million families at their doorsteps. Additionally, a laptop distribution program for students is slated to commence post-Ramadan.
Economic Revival and Interest-Free Financing
Highlighting the nation’s economic resurgence, the Chief Minister underscored the necessity of interest-free loans to stabilize the private sector. She acknowledged the economic challenges faced over the past seven years but expressed optimism about the current recovery trajectory. Economic advancement and the enhancement of living standards remain top priorities for the government.

Commitment to Economic Development
Reflecting on the governance philosophy of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), she noted that Nawaz Sharif has consistently honored his commitments, with economic development at the forefront of the party’s agenda. Observers from other provinces and media outlets have expressed astonishment at the swift initiation of projects in Punjab. Under the Asaan Karobar schemes, interest-free loans starting from Rs1 million are being offered, with a streamlined application process to eliminate bureaucratic hurdles.
Inflation Reduction and Price Monitoring
The Chief Minister highlighted a significant reduction in inflation, noting a decrease from 38% to below 4% since the PML-N assumed office. She pointed out that flour prices in Punjab are currently the most affordable compared to other provinces and mentioned her personal commitment to daily monitoring of essential commodity prices. The scheme has attracted 185,000 applications, including 71,000 each for the Rs5 million and Rs30 million financing categories. She pledged to closely oversee the loan disbursement process to ensure transparency and efficiency.
Empowering SMEs and Job Creation
Emphasizing the pivotal role of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in driving economic growth, the Chief Minister acknowledged that not everyone has the capacity to establish large-scale businesses. She expressed confidence that loan recipients would rapidly expand their ventures, thereby creating employment opportunities for others. She also addressed political adversaries, suggesting that recent calls for protests have failed to resonate with the public, with participation limited to government employees from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
Political Stability and Economic Progress
In related developments, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif engaged with members of the Punjab Assembly from various districts, including Sahiwal, Khanewal, Multan, Lodhran, Vehari, and Bahawalnagar. He lamented that political instability has hindered Pakistan’s development and accused previous administrations of fostering animosity and retribution in politics. He credited Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s efforts for steering the economy away from the brink of default and restoring stability.
Nawaz Sharif further commented on the adverse effects of past political decisions, citing corruption, inflation, and economic mismanagement as detrimental outcomes. He reaffirmed the PML-N’s dedication to economic development and public welfare, emphasizing that the government’s primary focus is on economic stabilization and inflation reduction through consistent policy implementation.
